Beating the Summer Heat!

We live in central Texas and is hot here. Hot probably doesn't even begin to describe it. The average temperature it 100F + and then you add in the humidity and you will be well on your way to the ER for heat stroke in no time. It is such a bummer because I love for my kids to be able to go outside and run around and get all their energy out. The heat makes even short trip to the grocery store almost unbearable. We find ourselves filling up the baby pool in the yard or taking the short 2 mile drive to Sea World's waterpark to lazy around in the cool tube river.  So aside from wading in the pool all day like a giant beluga whale we are trying to think of fun things to do inside that can also keep us active. One of our families favorite fun indoor exercise activities is playing the Wii. I know what you are thinking... how can playing a video game be exercise? Well, we have a lot of active games. Wii Fit, Wii Fit Nick Jr (which my 3 year old absolutely LOVES!!), Jillian Michaels, and a wide variety of dance games (my husband has been favoring the Michael Jackson one as of late) So what are some of your fun summer ideas for beating the heat??

  1. The kiddie pool is a great way to cool off. We are lucky enough to live next to my in-laws, who have a huge pond we go to. I love picnics with the kids at the pond and playing in the water and then heading home before the heat really hits!
Stopping by from the Mom Loop Friday Follow! Cute blog!
